Healing the Diabetic Foot Wound: A Marriage of Team, Technology and Tenacity

Thursday, February 25, 2021 18:40 - 19:00

Every 1.2 seconds, someone around the world develops a diabetic foot ulcer. Half will become infected, leading to an amputation every 20 seconds worldwide. In the past, tissue repair and wound healing was not a primary focus of an interdisciplinary team. This has changed dramatically over the years. This talk will discuss the impact of lower extremity complications of diabetes and the evolution of next-generation technologies to help heal wounds faster and lead to more ulcer-free, hospital-free and activity-rich days.
